Sookhe Kale Chane or Dry Black Chickpea Curry is a delicious, spicy and popular dish that forms a part of the North Indian Cuisine. There is no onion and garlic used in the ingredients of this dish and thus it enjoys a virtual monopoly as a dish suited for Navratras and other Indian festivals.

  • 100 GRAM KALA CHANNA/BLACK CHICKPEAS
  • ADD 2 CUPS OF WATER
  • 1 TSPN SODA
  • MIX IT WELL
  • SOAK IT FOR OVERNIGHT
  • PRE-HEAT A PRESSURE COOKER
  • ADD THE CHICKPEAS ALONG WITH THE WATER
  • ADD SALT AS PER YOUR TASTE
  • KEEP IT TO COOK FOR 4-5 WHISLTES
  • CHECK THE CHICKPEAS BY TRYING TO MASH IT IF IT MASHES EASILY THEN ITS GOOD TO COOK
  • TAKE A KADAI
  • PRE-HEAT IT AND ADD 2 TBSP OIL
  • ADD 1 TSPN RAI/MUSTARD SEEDS
  • ADD 1 TSPN JEERA/CUMIN SEEDS
  • ADD 3-4 SLICED AND CHOPPED HARI MIRCH/GREEN CHILLIES
  • ADD 10-12 CURRY LEAVES
  • ADD 1 TSPN HING/ASAFOETIDA
  • MIX IT WELL
  • ADD THE CHANNA ALONG WITH THE WATER
  • MIX IT WELL
  • KEEP IT TO COOK UNDER A LID FOR 2 MINS
  • REMOVE THE LID
  • ADD SALT AS PER YOUR TASTE
  • ADD 1 TSPN LAL MIRCH/RED CHILI POWDER
  • GIVE IT A GOOD MIX
  • COOK IT UNDER A LID FOR 2 MORE MINS
  • REMOVE THE LID & MIX IT WELL
  • GARNISH IT WITH CORIANDER & GRATED COCONUT
  • SERVE IT HOT
