  • 100 Grams of Urad Dal/Black Gram
  • Water
  • Salt as per your taste
  • Oil to fry
  • 2 Hari Mirch/Green Chilies
  • Half-Inch Adhrak/Ginger
  • 1 Cup Curd/Dahi/Yogurt
  • 1 tsp. Jeera/Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp. Kali Mirch/Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 tsp. Lal Mirch/Red Chili Powder
  • Green Mint Chutney to Garnish
  • Tamarind Chutney to Garnish
  • Chopped Coriander to Garnish


  • Soak the Dal in 2 Cups of Water for Half an Hour
  • Add the Dal to a Blender with Salt and 2 Chopped Chilies and Chopped Ginger
  • Add 3-4 tbsp. of Water
  • Blend to a think consistency to fry
  • In a Frying Pan take around 200ML of Oil to Fry the Vada’s
  • Take small ball sized portions of the batter and deep fry them.
  • Once golden brown, remove them and keep them aside
  • Take some Luke warm water in a bowl and soak the fried balls in them for 2-3 mins
  • Squeeze the extra water out of the balls and remove them in a separate dish.
  • Take a blender and add 1 Cup of Curd and 1 Cup of Water and Salt
  • Give it a good blend and pour the curd over the balls
  • Garnish it with Jeera Powder and the Red Chili and the Black pepper powder as per your liking.
  • Add some mint chutney and tamarind chutney over it.
  • Finish the garnish with some chopped coriander.
  • Your Dahi Vada is ready, You can either serve it as it is or keep it in a refrigerator for half an hour or so and serve it when needed.
