Kala Chana Masala – Black Chickpeas Masala Curry – A Lunch Recipe Pancham, June 30, 2019June 30, 2019 Ingredients: 200-GRAMS boiled kala chana/black chickpeas (In a Pressure Cooker, Boil the Chana with 4 Cups of Water and a 1 tsp. of Salt for 4-5 whistles)2 tbsp. of oil2 finely chopped green chilies1 tez pata/bay leaf1 finely chopped onion1 tsp. ginger garlic pasteSalt as per your taste2 tomato pure¼ tsp. hing/asafetida1 tsp. dhaniya/coriander powder1 tsp. lal mirch/red chili powder1.5 cups of water Method: Pre-heat a KadaiAdd 2 Tbsp. of oilAdd 2 Finely Chopped Green ChiliesAdd 1 Tez Pata/Bay LeafAdd 1 Finely Chopped OnionMix and Sauté them wellAdd 1 Tsp. Ginger-Garlic PasteMix and cook it wellAdd Salt as per your tasteAdd a puree of 2 tomatoes into the KadaiMix it well and let it cook on a medium flameAdd ¼ tsp. of Hing/AsafetidaAdd 1 tsp. of Dhaniya/Coriander PowderAdd 1 tsp. Lal Mirch/Red Chili PowderMix and Sauté them wellCook it under a lid on slow flame for 2-3 MinutesAdd 1.5 Cups of WaterAdd 200-Grams boiled kala chana/black chickpeasMix it well and let it cook under a lid for 3-4 minutes on a medium flameRemove the lid and give it a good mix and on a slow flame let it cook for a final minute.Serve it hot with rice or chapati.
